Weight Loss Tips without Dieting or Exercising

It is pretty common knowledge that the best way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume.  For some, that is easier said than done.  Dieting is hard!  Exercise is time consuming!  So what does that leave you with?!

If you want to shed a few pounds, improve your overall health, and infuse some nutritious foods into your day, we can help you out.  Here are nine tips that have nothing to do with diets or exercising!

#1 Colours

Weight Loss with Color BlueDid you know that colors can affect our mood and thought process?  It’s true!  For example, the color red increases appetite.  For proof, take a look at your favorite fast food restaurants.  What is the primary color in their logos?  Exactly.  Blue, on the other hand, suppresses appetite.  If your kitchen or dining room is red, it might be time for a new coat of paint.  While you’re at it, pick up a blue tablecloth and some blue dinner plates!

#2 Plate Size

While you are at the store shopping for your new blue dinnerware, pass by the dinner plates (10-14 inches) and go for the salad plates (7-9 inches).  A portion-controlled meal looks sad and pathetic on a big plate.  That same serving size on a small plate will look generous and filling.

#3 Track Your Steps

A pedometer is one of the best weight loss tools you can own.  It is inexpensive, easy to use, and brings about a great deal of change.  During week number one, use a pedometer every day from sun up to sun down.  Keep track of how many steps you take each day; then, determine a daily average.  During week number two (and beyond), see if you can add at least 1,000 additional steps to your daily average.

Weight Loss Tips - Choose to be Active#4 Choose to be Active

When you and your loved one plan a date night, opt for something active – like bowling or a walk in the park.

#5 Serving Size

Bringing heaping platters of food to the table and serving family style is just too much temptation.  Instead, dish up portion-controlled servings in the kitchen.

#6 Avoid Coffee Shops

Again, avoid temptation whenever possible.  While you may go into a coffee shop with the greatest of intentions, it won’t be long before you are seduced by the whole milk, whipped cream, and sugar.  Make your coffee at home where you are far less likely to add high calorie goodies to your drink.

#7 Avoid Eating Out

Research shows that the abundance of options available causes people to eat more when they dine out.  With the mouth watering list of appetizers, desserts, and sugary drinks, this doesn’t come as a surprise! If you can’t avoid eating out, here are some tips for eating out healthily.

#8 Get Rid of Your Fat Clothes

Clean out your closet and get rid of all your “fat clothes.”  That way, you have nothing to rely on if you gain weight.  Just thinking of how expensive it would be to buy a new wardrobe to accommodate your new size should be highly motivational!

#9 Stay Vigilant on Weekends

Weekends seem to be the deathtrap of weight loss.  Studies show that dieters eat an additional 115 calories per day on the weekends.  Stay vigilant on your days off!

Good luck with your weight loss efforts.  Even if you can’t seem to find a diet or exercise regimen that works, there are still ways to shed unwanted pounds.
