A delicious Cantaloupe Salsa Recipe, that not only goes well with Chicken, Grilled Fish or even tacos, but is also really healthy at the same time. Cantaloupe, or Spanspek, Mushmelon, Muskmelon or Rockmelon as it is also known in other parts of the world, makes a great alternative to the mango salsa, which has become very popular in recent years.

  • 2 cups of diced (1/4 inch or 6mm) Cantaloupe
  • 1/4 cup of finely chopped sweet onion such as Vidalia
  • 2 tablespoons of finely chopped fresh Basil
  • 1 (2 inch or 5cm long) fresh Serrano pepper, minced (including some seeds)
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt


Toss all the ingredients together in a bowl and cover and allow to stand for 10 minutes. Serve chilled.
