Dumbbell Press
Video: Dumbbell Press
The dumbbell bench press is similar to the regular flat bench press, however it employs two dumbbells, one in each hand, instead of a barbell. The dumbbell press primarily targets your chest, but also works your triceps and anterior and medial deltoids. It can either be done on a ball, seated or on a flat bench as shown in this video.

Advantages of the Dumbbell Press
- This is a good chest exercise to use if you have an injury, since you can twist your wrists or elbows to accommodate and work around the injury
- The dumbbell press is more of an isolation exercise, since you have to balance both dumbbells independently, which works your stabilizer muscles
- You can work specific muscles depending on how you position the dumbbells
- Reduced likelihood of one-side muscle dominance, since the weights are held in separate hands, requiring each arm to carry its own weight
